Helston Downsland Charity (HDC) is here to benefit the residents of Helston through grant
giving and careful use of its green spaces.
We are beginning a consultation to help us plan – with input from our community - how we use
and manage the three fields off the A394, opposite Helston Community Hospital, commonly
known as ‘Hospital Cross Fields’.
The aspiration is that this green space will become a place where the people of Helston can
come to improve their wellbeing and build relationships with people and nature.
At a time when more and more of our open spaces are being developed, it has never been more
important to preserve green spaces to ensure we have somewhere where people and nature
can thrive – the mental and physical health benefits of spending time outside are very well
documented and an important antidote to the stresses many of us are experiencing every day.
We have already had many suggestions from the community about what could happen at the
fields, from camping to practical educational workshops to community food growing – find out
more and have your say by visiting
our
survey page.
If you would rather complete a paper version, these are available at the Guildhall, Coinagehall
Street Helston, where completed surveys can also be returned.
Please use this opportunity, via the short questionnaire to share your opinions and ideas. All the
information received will feed into the Helston Downsland Charity Grants meeting on
November 27th at St Mary’s Church Hall, Helston when we will feedback results gained so far
from the surveys. Following on from this, we are really excited to also be planning a public event
early in 2025 at the Old Cattle Market where members of our community are warmly invited to
help us plan the next steps on this important journey!
We look forward to hearing from you – Meur Ras!
